I redid Somewhere New today. Alex did an awesome job on the recording and production of it, but I did a poor job of singing the first one, so I remedied that. The new one has some fingerpicking and some harmonies, and will soon be live on our music page. :)

Hope you like it.

Hey guys!

Those of you who donated to our cause to receive a special printed version of the Aqueous album with a handmade book included? You’ll be happy to know that we’ve got the Cd’s all printed up, and are in the process of getting them signed by everyone, and we’ve gone to working on the handmade lyric booklets as well.

Thanks for the support, don’t worry, we haven’t forgotten you. We just had to pass our exams first!
Look for your special copies of Aqueous soon!

Joel

Hey guys!

Thanks for all the support when we put our album up online! (over 1000 mp3 listens in the first few days!) SPECIAL thanks to those who made the trip all the way out to Manitou to pickup their copy right away, and to see the show! It meant a ton to us. (Also, how good is Pocket Change, right? You can check them out here on their website! )

So just as a thanks to everyone, we’re putting the whole thing online for free to download! You can check it out on our music page, and if you donate money to us for the album? We’ll send you a properly printed, signed copy of the disk with a handmade lyric and info book, which we’ll also sign for you. :) (Plus you’ll be a fantastic person!) If you don’t donate? I propose a deal. In exchange for downloading the album free? You have to share our music with at least 2 of your friends. :)

Hope you enjoy having Free Kittens on your iPod!

Hey everyone.

Yeah, I know. Its been quite some time since we’ve been active on here. For that I feel bad. But. Here is your news!

Sometime, in about a month, actually, Free Kittens will be loading our gear into vehicles, and settin’ up in the studio at ACC in Brandon, to record something somewhere between an EP and an album. This should go down at the end of February, early March, and we’ll get to work on the mixing work the minute we’ve finished the recording, so that we can hopefully get it to you as soon as possible.

If all goes well? We will have it all finished in time for a show that we’ve been asked to play in mid/late March. I can’t reveal all of the details of that yet, as not everything is finalized, but what I CAN say is that ideally, it will be the first chance for you to hear our new material live, as well as the first opportunity for you to purchase your very own copy of our first original recorded work. Sneak peaks of that material may appear from time to time on our page as well. Put us on your favourites and keep checking back over the next two months. We’ll make it worth it!

Thanks for being patient! Thanks for sticking around!

Hey everyone!

Looks like it’s been a while since I was here and that you were here. Glad you came back to the site. Nonetheless, time to take care of some business!

What have we been up to lately?

Well, last Saturday we loaded up our gear and headed to Portage La Prairie for the Potato Festival’s Battle of the Bands. We have noticed a trend in playing shows in Portage: It will always rain. I’m in contact with a group of scientists at an undisclosed location to see if we can get that published into scientific law.

Anyway, we had a really good time in Portage and met some cool people. This would include the winners of the Battle of the Bands, Screaming at Traffic. I really enjoyed this band. Their bassist, Paul, and I hit it off. He brought out his bass and let me have a go on it and I gave him a whamola for mess with. He was a slapping beast.

This Week

This week we’re getting ready for Rock for the Cure which will help raise money for breast cancer research. Ticket info can be found on that page. The show is at the Park Theatre in Winnipeg. The doors open at 7:15 (the physical doors, not the band) and the show starts at 8:00.

We’re really looking forward to this show. We even made a setlist in advance! We will be playing one new cover, which we played in Cartwright for those that were there, which will probably be Epic.

Hope to see you there!

Enjoy the rest of your week,
Bassist.

Hello Friends!

The Tooth Fairy decided to drop by and give me some sweet video clips from Band Aid! I have posted all of them on the Videos Page. Check them out! There are videos of our cover songs and our new originals as well. After talking to Joel, Jurgen, and Sam after the show, we all agreed that Band Aid 2010 was our best show yet. We hope to continue to grow stronger every show! Keep your ear hear, cause we just might have posts of shows coming up!

Hey Kitten Followers!

Well, the Carman Collegiate Theatre this past Saturday was the place to be!  Why?  I’ll tell you!  Plans are in the works for this year’s BandAid in Carman.  I’m excited for the Epic potential there is for a really awesome show this year!  We had a handful of bands on the bill together this weekend for a mass practice.  It was a great time, and I must say, quite impressed by some of the bands I heard.

As a side note, gig season begins for Free Kittens this Friday… More details to come soon.

Have a Good Week,

Alex

Ok, here it is!  Bassist’s first post on the new Free Kittens’ website.  I’m going to do my best to use proper grammar and punctuation because that’s how I roll.  Someone’s got to do it because Joel clearly can’t do it.

I’ve decided to share some video with you find folks today.  This was shot this past Sunday.  Apparently a litter of kittens converged at a central location for a jam session.  It had been so long since we played together.  All of us had such a great time.  We played some covers and some stuff no one has heard before… Here are some of the highlights.
